The New Red Wings Arena Is Just A Little Ice Rink Right Now

Last week the new Red Wings arena and arena district (branded as merely "The District Detroit" on signage around the event) broke ground. It was the debut of an elaborate ring of shipping containers on the site of the actual arena. Shortly after the press conference this was transformed into a skating rink open to the public. It is a good reminder that this whole thing is actually about hockey, in case you forgot.
