Gilbert Discovers Cap Park Building He Doesn't Own, Fixes That

New, 8 comments

Dan Gilbert, whose companies own more than 60 downtown properties (a mix of parking structures and buildings), recently found one he did not own yet. A former recording studio at 1250 Griswold in Capitol Park was listed for $750,000 when Dan discovered that it was not illuminated on his mini model of the city. Money exchanged hands and tiny lightbulb was fired up. The final purchase price was not revealed. Problem solved. For now.

This acquisition is Gilbert's sixth in Capitol Park. The area has about 12 buildings total that all surround an open triangle of public plaza space. Three are being developed by Karp and Associates. The area has been criticized in the past for chasing out old folks at The Albert building development, a project led by Broder & Sachse.
