New Center's University Hotel is architecturally striking and deeply in debt. The building was bought for $100,000 in 1987. According to WDWOT, it has been behind on taxes since 2006 and now owes a total of $83,184. Until recently it was on the Wayne County list of foreclosed properties to be auctioned off this month, but the parcel page now reads "removed from auction" with no further explanation. What will be its fate? Bidding in the Wayne County auction of foreclosed properties began yesterday and closes on September 24.
