The People Mover jumped the tracks last night, causing one of the automated cars to collide with the Times Square platform. No one was injured. One might expect such a big hiccup to bring the system down for a few days, but the resilient train dusted itself off and got back on that rail, saving Auto Show attendees from having to walk a single block on the streets of downtown. This morning, DDOT announced that the offending car had been removed and that patrons can ride today for free.
UPDATE (12:30PM): DDOT clarifies that the People Mover expects to resume regular service sometime this afternoon. Busses are shuttling passengers between the stations until then.
