The historic Park Avenue and Eddystone hotels might have an interesting shot at survival. City Council President Pro Tempore George Cushingberry wants to see both towers, which sit right next to the proposed Red Wings arena, rehabbed as "moderately priced rentals for seniors, veterans and others." We've heard this plan before, but now there's talk of federal financing alongside mention that the Duggan Administration and the Ilitch Organization are in negotiations. No agreement has been reached yet, but the pressure to preserve the buildings is certainly growing.
