Magic Stick Plans $300K Switch to Electronic Music

New, 14 comments

With revenues plunging, the Magic Stick just announced a renovation plan that'll end its run as one of Detroit's favorite hole-in-the-wall rock venues. After 22 years hosting some of the city's best indie rock bands, the Stick will undergo a $300K transformation into an electronic music venue. Currently an space 8,300-square-foot space above the Majestic Theater, the no-frills venue hasn't planned anything too mind-blowing. We're looking at new bathrooms, a bigger stage, improved sound system, and upgrades to the Alley Deck, a connected rooftop area. Work is expected to finish up later this spring.
