There's nothing like that new bus smell! Over the next several months, 80 new busses will come to the aid of Detroit's notoriously junky transit system. Just how badly-needed are these busses? Last year, MLive reported that "an average of 100 buses are sidelined each day" due to maintenance issues. That's out of DDOT's fleet of 300 busses. Along with unveiling a new DDOT mobil app, Mayor Duggan announced a goal of getting Detroit's entire bus system running on time by midyear. Good luck.
UPDATE: To ease overcrowding on major routes, 10 of the new busses will be the extra-long, articulated kind. Like this.
