Last night, the CEO of athletic gear maker Under Armour told a crowd at the Detroit Opera House that his company has a site selection crew on the ground in Detroit. Interviewed by Quicken Loans CEO Dan Gilbert as part of Detroit Homecoming, Under Armour's Kevin Plank talked briefly about the new store. Organized by Crain's Detroit Business and described as a way of encouraging Detroit "expats" to re-engage with the city, Detroit Homecoming continues through Oct 2. At last night's opener, after speeches by Governor Rick Snyder and riffs on the evening's sports theme, Gilbert got down to brass tacks with Plank, who said that his company expects to have a Detroit store soon, and that his team was in town seeking retail space.
