When the Legoland Discovery Center Michigan opens at Great Lakes Crossing Outlets next spring, the 32,000-square-foot retail space will unveil a mini-land featuring a number of iconic Detroit structures. We all have our favorites, and the store is actively soliciting input from Detroiters who are invited to vote on buildings for the mini-land on the Legoland Facebook page. Voting began on Oct. 12 and wraps up Monday, Oct. 26.
Legoland general manager Hayley Anderson extended the invitation in a recent press release. "We are thrilled to invite Lego fans and members of the public to participate in creating our very own Miniland exhibit," Anderson said. "We know that the completed Miniland will be a spectacular showpiece that represents the places we love most about metro Detroit and Michigan, and will inspire families and visitors from across the region."
Legoland will announce the top ten vote-getters Oct. 28. The final landmark, selected in a round of voting, taking place from Nov. 2-Nov. 16 will be revealed Nov. 18 and then unveiled shortly before Legoland Discovery Center Michigan opens at Auburn Hills' Great Lakes Crossing Outlets in the spring.
