When we first wrote about this 1-bedroom, 1-bath, 950-square-foot loft in 2011, it was on the rental market for $2000 a month. And then for $1750. And then $1150. While the place may not have succeeded as a rental, as a sale property, it has much to recommend it. The windows in the 1920 building, once the Crescent Brass and Pin Factory, are huge, and the ceilings are 12 feet high.
The living room has built-in bookcases, and a nicely designed office nook and built-in curio display with glass shelves. The single bathroom has pretty tiles in soft blues and greens, a white vessel sink, and a shower with custom glass enclosure. The bedroom door is a massive, sliding metal factory door, lending a touch of industrial verité to the place.
The Research Lofts has gated, secure parking, a workout area, and an acre of parklike green space. The HOA is $190 a month and covers landscaping, the keycard security system and the water bill. The unit is in great shape, pretty, and in up-and-coming Woodbridge. If you like the neighborhood, but aren't interested in a 5-bedroom Italian gothic mini-castle, this could be a great choice. The price is a huge reach, though. Other units in the building are going for far less, including a 2-bedroom that sold in February for $195K.
