This 5-bedroom, 4-bathroom home in Sherwood Forest has amazing bones: there's a wood-paneled library, charming original baths and a pair of pretty fireplaces. But then there's the carpet—so much carpet—much of which looks a bit worn. And a swinging 70s basement rec room, complete with leather-padded wet bar and what appears to be faux wood paneling…in a house chock a block with the real deal.
The kitchen got a 90s update, so you'll see that decade representing, too, and the house has vertical blinds for days. But there are also great original touches, including a stunning crystal chandelier in the dining room. Some of bedrooms have the original hardwood floors, though the master, stairs and hallways drown in a sea of cream carpeting. This seems a little off, but it's not that hard to remedy.
When you look past decades of interesting interior choices, what really stands out are features like the gorgeous stained glass and carved oak, the large windows, and how lovely this place is on the outside. There's also a detached 3-car garage, large brick patio and a big yard shaded by mature trees. While the basement bar has all the yellow formica in the world (we checked), the space is fun in a weird, retro way. We'd definitely go to a party there. Perhaps even a housewarming, if the market is kind.
