Longtime pop-up Pages Bookshop has finally nailed down a permanent home, ending an 18-month search for a suitable space in NW Detroit. The bookstore is moving into a small storefront in Grandmont Rosedale, close to its ongoing pop-up in Always Brewing Detroit. Specializing in works of fiction, Pages should be ready to open by April.
Owned and recently renovated by the Grandmont Rosedale Development Corporation, the new space is basically a clean, white box. Nothing fancy. In reality, that's all Pages owner Susan Murphy had been searching for all those months. She tells the story in a January blog post, explaining how crappy property owners and dilapidated buildings made opening a simple book store such a journey.
