Fail Jail was out of the spotlight just long enough to begin fading from memory, but Wayne County's dwindling cash situation promises those blissful days are over. The Freep reports that county bigwigs are still waffling on the big decision: Forge ahead and build a smaller jail, or cut their losses and sell the property. With a standing offer of $20M and a promise to redevelop the site, Dan Gilbert remains an eager potential buyer. Neither option is particularly appealing, but stalling reportedly costs taxpayers $1.4M/month in storage and interest fees. Let's get a move on.
