Spirit of Southfield

Years before he created the iconic Spirit of Detroit statue, artist Marshall Fredericks was hired by the J.L. Hudson Company in 1954 to make a child-friendly sculpture for Northland Mall in Southfield. "Boy and Bear" grew into somewhat of a mascot for Northland over the years, but the mall's impending closure leaves the statue's future in doubt. [Freep]
