Statler City Approved For 235 Apartments, Zen Garden

New, 48 comments

One year after it was first proposed, the $35M Statler City development is back in the news after winning approval from Detroit City Council this week. Developer Village Green has settled on an apartment count of 235, including everything from studios to three-bedroom units. Street-level retail sits below the apartments, with underground parking below that. The latest news adds an avalanche of amenities, ranging from normal (outdoor pools) to the kitschy distractions (zen garden) Village Green does better than anyone else. Even though the site has been cleansed of all Kid Rock-related debris, construction won't fire up for another year, with leasing expected to begin in late 2017.
