Ever since the Park Apartments began upgrading into the fancier, 118-unit Briggs House Apartments, we've been waiting for someone to peel off the ugly, prison-style facade hiding building's bottom two floors. A photo posted by HistoricDetroit.org confirms that it finally happened, revealing the former Briggs Hotel's original entryway (right) and a ghost of the Oriental Theatre on the left.

Located next door, the actual theater area was demolished years ago, but its elaborate lobby survived behind the walls of the apartment building's ground floor. Perhaps it'll be daylighted when Briggs House comes online in the fall.
