A $1.8M loft conversion is stirring to life inside a Milwaukee Junction warehouse, reports Model D, and 12 live-work units are expected to come online this fall. Built in 1914, the one-story building isn't an obvious candidate for a loft conversion, but developers Edward Siegel and James Feagin tell Model D that a partial second story will be added this summer, bringing total square footage above 10,000. Milwaukee Junction's historic industrial buildings haven't seen much activity thus far, but this project is unlikely to be a flash in the pan. M1 Rail is on the way, and many think the area is close to the tipping point.
