Armed with a 1,000-foot water slide, a traveling event called Slide the City is planning a stop in Detroit this summer. The padded vinyl slide is typically installed on a city street for one day of riding. Like any traveling entertainment, the price is steep, ranging from $15 for a single ride to $50 for an unlimited pass. A specific location or dates have yet to be announced, so there's always the chance that "Detroit" might actually mean anywhere in Metro Detroit. That being said, a giant water slide has Dan Gilbert written all over it. His real estate company, Bedrock, sponsored a 300-foot zipline in Campus Martius in February.
Update: Slide the City announced today that a "portion" of proceeds will go to charity.
