Explore Riverside Park Before Potential $5M Overhaul

Riverside Park might be a very different place next summer. Should the Duggan-Moroun land swap deal be fully approved, the first $3M worth of upgrades will begin construction this fall. We're talking an improved promenade and a new playscape near the river, along with benches, picnic tables and a new shelter. Additional athletic fields would be installed atop a dusty, 3.4-acre parcel to the north. Those are the immediate plans, but Phase 2 would bring another $2M and expand the park westward.
Then again, there's always the possibility that the controversial plan won't be approved. The only certainty is that this summer, Riverside will remain a forgotten-looking space with views stretching all the way to the downtown skyline.
