Privacy Begone! Balduck Park's New Restroom Has No Doors

New, 11 comments

The new Balduck Park restroom has no sinks, no mirrors, no hand driers and no doors. We repeat: No doors. Awkward! It does provide toilet paper (maybe?), two steel, self-composting toilets and a solar panel roof.

The bane of thrones is part of the Detroit park's $2.7 million makeover and the funky brainchild of the city of Detroit's General Services Department. The stark, open space was specially created to deter vandalism and scrappers, and help protect children from becoming trapped or a victim of crime. It's a well-meaning and so-far-successful idea that is slated for installation in other renovated Detroit parks. - Leslie Youngblood
