Construction is now underway on a half-mile extension to the Dequindre Cut. The addition will run from the current northern end at Gratiot north past the Eastern Market district bumping the path's total span to more than 1.5 miles. Planners hope to have the work completed sometime this summer.
Open since May 2009, the former railroad line turned greenway is most known for its urban artwork and graffiti. Visitors can access the path via entrance ramps at Lafayette Street, Gratiot Avenue and Woodbridge Street. - Leslie Youngblood
