Ever want to drive on Woodward Avenue anywhere useful (i.e., in Detroit) and notice that the road is a bombed-out looking hellscape? That's summer construction on the city's M1 Rail Loop. Between the ramp closings and the way that half of Woodward is rubble these days, Detroiters can't wait for this thing to be done already. Set to open aometime in 2016, the project will create a 7-mile transit loop in the heart of Detroit, aimed at alleviating parking problems and encouraging public transit use. Take a look at the current state of the project and renderings of what the whole shebang will look like if…er, when, construction is complete.
