As part of an ongoing improvement campaign for East Jefferson Ave, part of the street will be repaved beginning early next week, causing three to four days of major lane closures. The work will impact East Jefferson Avenue from Lakewood to Alter. The construction is part of East Jefferson's new streetscape. The project already created new landscaped traffic islands in the neighborhood. Next week's work will result in a new lane configuration for part of East Jefferson Ave. Plans also include redoing crosswalk markings at Chalmers and Alter. Once complete, the street will be marked to include two vehicle lanes, a dedicated lane for street parking and protected bike lanes. According to East Jefferson Inc, work on the streetscape should be complete by November 15.
