Welcome to Friday Open Threads, wherein we'll pass the mic to readers to speak up about topics of interest, distress, horror, etc. Have something you want discussed? Let us know. This week’s topic: You made the move; now tell us how you really feel.
Recently, we’ve heard that Detroit’s population may not be decreasing as dramatically as it has in the past. And if you walk around downtown, you know that it’s full of young people exploring the city. Lots have millennials have shown interest in Detroit (although they’re just curious at this point). Some baby boomers are even leaving their suburban homes and buying lofts in the city.
This week, we’re asking non-native Detroiters, or Detroiters who have moved back to the city, to speak up. What were your expecting? And what weren’t you expecting? Did you know about the car insurance? The taxes? What were you pleasantly surprised by?
Let us know in the comments. And as always, if you have an idea for discussion, let us know on the tip line!
