111-year-old Detroit home, fully renovated, asks $125K

We recently talked about five neighborhoods to watch in the coming years (even though many neighborhoods could be considered right now). The North End and New Center were on the list, and we’re also curious about the area just north of New Center, south of Boston Edison. We’ve seen quite a bit of interest in homes in this area, which is right along Woodward, but just north of the M-1 rail.

This house is move-in ready, but still reflects some of the issues in that area (see the first floor windows here). But these renovations keep the lovely details intact — the woodwork on the staircase, trim, and fireplace is quite nice, and the hardwood floors are all refinished. On the first floor, the house has a living room, parlor, bathroom, formal dining room, and kitchen. Yes, the kitchen has the dizzying back splash. The second floor has two bedrooms, a full bathroom, and another room that could be a bedroom or office, and a rear staircase. It also has a (creepy) unfinished basement and a nice porch.

It’s listing for $124,900 through Jan Dijkers.
