Welcome to this week's installment of Curbed Comparisons, where we explore what you can rent for a certain dollar amount in various Detroit neighborhoods. This week we're looking at rentals around the city within $100 of today's price: $900.
Last week, we mentioned a Corktown loft rental that was going big at $10K a month. No worries, friends. That’s a big outlier. Can we still find rentals under $1,000? We looked in West Village, Midtown, Downtown, and East English Village to bring you this week’s Curbed Comparisons.
First up is this one bedroom/one bath apartment at the Parkhurst in West Village. It has hardwood floors, a tiny kitchen, and it’s walking distance from the restaurants and shops in the neighborhood. It’s listing for $950/month, with a $50 flat utility fee.
Perhaps you’d like to live in the Park Shelton? A one bedroom, one and a half bath is up for rent, fully furnished and on the top floor. It’s right across the street from the Detroit Institute of Arts and it’s along the M-1 Rail/QLINE. It’s renting for $1,000/month.
Want to live downtown but don’t need a lot of space? Briggs Houze is leasing, and their studios start at $870. The building is newly renovated and located at Grand Circus Park, close to Comerica Park, the Fox Theatre, and the new arena.
Or maybe you’re looking for an entire house? This four bedroom, three bath house with a backyard is available for $1,000 a month in East English Village. Sure, some of the details are "vintage," but it’s a great family neighborhood with interesting architecture. The house is also freshly painted with new carpeting.
