Detroit Rent Comparisons: What can $1,200 rent you this winter?

Welcome to this week's installment of Curbed Comparisons, where we explore what you can rent for a certain dollar amount in various Detroit neighborhoods. This week we’re looking at rentals around the city within $100 of today's price: $1,200.

First up is a house we visited a few months ago. We’re excited that the J.D. Baer house in Woodbridge is almost ready for new residents for the first time in 50 years. There are a few different units available (pictures coming soon) ranging from $1,250-1,300. If you look back at our previous article, you know that this building has been completely redone, and each unit has their own utilities and is insulated for sound and temperature. More on these soon, but these are some historic rentals available.

Here’s another new renovation, this time in West Village. This house is located on Van Dyke near Kercheval. This reno has new windows, hardwood floors, and new appliances. There are a few available, including a studio for $700 and a first floor unit for $1,050. The upper unit has two bedrooms, one bath, and is renting for $1,200 a month.

There’s also a one-bedroom, one-bath apartment available at the Garden Court along Jefferson. This apartment has a tiny kitchen and is renting for $1,250 a month and is walkable to the Riverfront, plus some restaurants and bars.

There’s also a one bedroom, one bath apartment available at the Regis Houze apartments in New Center. This one’s renting for $1,200 and includes free wi-fi in the community areas, and the renovated apartments have new appliances, plumbing, and electrical. They’re located right next to the Fisher Building and close to the M-1 rail line.
