Detroit Rent Comparisons: What can $2,500 rent you right now?

Welcome to this week's installment of Curbed Comparisons, where we explore what you can rent for a certain dollar amount in various Detroit neighborhoods. This week we’re looking at rentals around the city within $100 of today's price: $2,500.

Earlier this week, we looked at a fire station that’s currently being renovated and is up for rent for $2,500. It’s zoned for commercial use, but we think there might be some ghostbusters out there who are interested in it. This week, we’re keeping that budget and seeing what kind of place you can rent in Detroit for $2,500.

First, there’s a place available for rent in January at the Ellington, which is at the corner of Woodward and Mack and above Starbucks. It’s close to Whole Foods and the M-1 Rail. This condo has two bedrooms, two baths, a washer & dryer, a parking space, and it’s furnished. It’s renting for an even $2,500 a month.

Next is a bi-level loft at the Research Lofts near Techtown and Midtown. It has two + bedrooms, two baths, chandeliers, a private rooftop deck, washer and dryer, and lots of natural light. Also available from the Loft Warehouse is this 1,900-square-foot bi-level penthouse at the Lofts at Rivertown. This place is kind of bonkers with an updated, spacious kitchen, a wet bar nearby, and a custom stone fireplace. The master suite has a massive bathroom/closet and a walk-out private terrace where you can overlook the city and river. It’s a little pricier at $2,600 a month. (Photos by Jim Tumey)

Also along the River is a 23rd floor apartment available at the Riverfront Apartments. You’ll have views of the city in this two-bedroom apartment, along with granite counter tops, dark wood cabinetry, new flooring and carpet, and easy access to the People Mover. It’s going for $2401 a month.
