Brush Park’s Inn at 97 Winder finally sells for $2.4M

New, 1 comment

Talk about being in it for the long haul. One of the longest on-again, off-again listings in Detroit, the Inn at 97 Winder has finally sold to a new owner.

The price? $2,400,000.

This 11 bedrooms, 11.5 bath Victorian mansion was carefully restored by its past owners, Ghassan Yazbeck and Marilyn Nash-Yazbeck, at a time when there wasn’t much being restored in the neighborhood. They found the house in 1986, and put more than $1 million into the 11,000-square-foot mansion. It’s been on and off the market for years. We ran one piece on it way back in 2011, and another last fall.

The mansion has an enviable location as a bed and breakfast. It’s close enough to walk to the sports arenas and many entertainment venues, and it’s close to both downtown and Eastern Market. Our friends in Brush Park tell us they’ve chatted with the previous owner, who say the new owners plan on keeping it as a B&B. Don’t worry, we’ll invite ourselves over soon to confirm.

Here’s what $2.4M can buy you in Detroit right now.
