Last week, seven teams of designers and developers pitched their qualifications and ideas for a new vision for the Detroit Riverfront in front of community members and leaders at the Outdoor Adventure Center. A team will be decided in the upcoming weeks, with hopes for a large-scale plan by mid-summer.
The new team will engage with the community to create a plan for the East Riverfront. The Riverfront area is bordered by Larned Street to the north (including Jefferson Avenue), Belle Isle to the east, St. Antoine Street to the west, and the Detroit River.
This process emphasizes community involvement, with the public encouraged to interact with the panel last week and add insight when the team is announced. This area will see a lot more residents in the coming year, with Orleans Landing making progress and Waters Edge at Harbortown in the works.
We'll continue to follow the Riverfront plan and the new developments as we learn more.
