Eastern Market has seen a lot of activity lately and these are just a couple projects we're watching as we head into summer.
On the corner of the Fisher Service Drive and Russell, developer Scot Turnbull has been busy readying the spaces above Thomas Magee's and Stache International. He'll have three residential loft spaces and three 9,000 square foot office/commercial available. The ground floor space on the corner is being rented by Detroit Wick, which isn't open yet. The new spaces should be available by June, according to his rep. Those interested in renting or leasing can get more info here.

Turnbull is behind the redevelopment a few blocks down at 2501 Russell, which has Detroit vs. Everybody, Orleans + Winder, Jab's Gym, Brooklyn Outdoor, and the soon-to-be-open Beyond Juice on the ground level.
Further down the road, the City of Detroit and Detroit Economic Growth Corporation have issued an RFP for a Regional Food Accelerator. The land is Parcel 572, located at 3500 Riopelle Street, where a 104,000-square-foot, vacant, concrete and brick structure sits on a 6.2-acre site.
The successful applicant will offer a proposal to allure marketgoers, curating an exciting and engaging food-related tenant mix and transparent building design that will offer the public a new interactive experience with the food production process.
According to Brownfield Listings, the "RFP requires that 15,000 square feet of the overall 104,000-square-foot building be managed by Eastern Market Corporation... via lease or condo sale. EMC will lease this space to provide buildable food processing space to support the growth of food startups and businesses by providing fully licensed, ready-to-occupy spaces to bolster business growth throughout the region from the heart of Eastern Market District."
Proposals are due April 29th, with the successful candidate chosen by May 27th.
