It's not often we venture outside the city limits, especially to fancy-schmancy Birmingham, but since it's Opening Week, we'll make an exception for 10 time All-Star, MVP, Triple Crown recipient, and future Hall of Fame Tiger Miguel Cabrera. His 5,700-square-foot mansion in Birmingham is up for sale for $1,999,000.
Really, it's modest for a sports star of his caliber (if you want to see not-so-modest sports star houses, check out Curbed Miami). But figuring he's here for six months out of the year (and on the road for half of that), it makes sense. It's a pretty standard mansion with all the upgrades - chef's kitchen, plenty of room and storage. We're fond of the library, zebra print staircase, movie theater, and backyard. But fair warning - you have to be pre-qualified to view it.
Miggy bought a house last fall in Grosse Pointe Farms right on Lake St. Clair for $3.2 million. The house is twice the size of the Birmingham house, plus has two and a half acres of lakefront property. Nice upgrade, we think.
