Detroit residents are finally coming out of hibernation, and the neighborhoods are celebrating the warmer weather. This weekend has a few community celebrations you might want to check out.
West Village will be hopping Saturday, 12-6 with the West Village Block Party. There will be a parade, beer tasting, food trucks, and new businesses (including Detroit Body Garage and Village Parlor) will be out for sneak peeks and grand openings. Stroll down Parker, Kercheval, Van Dyke, and Agnes for all the action. There will also be the Villages Spring Forward Celebration at 1420 Van Dyke with food, music, and sustainable green energy exhibitions.
The Palmer Park Art Fair will be going on Saturday and Sunday. It's the largest juried outdoor art fair in the city. In addition to all the great art to browse, there will be food trucks, beer, art projects, and music. According to the organizers, you should park on Merrill Plaissance (the main street through the park) and there's some parking in the apartment district (it would be a good opportunity to appreciate the architecture out there too!)
The Grandmont Rosedale neighborhood is having an Open House to showcase homes for sale on Sunday, May 15 from 1-5. Visitors need to register that day at the North Rosedale Park Community House at 18445 Scarsdale to get a list of homes and financing resources in the community. Some of the neighbors will even have their houses open so visitors can get an idea of the neighborhood! Bus tours will also be available.
And if you have good stuff happening in your neighborhood, let us know through the tip line!
