The very first Flower Day at #EasternMarket was in 1967. In 1966, a group of 20 flower growers in the #MetroDetroit area formed the Metro Detroit Flower Growers Association to promote awareness and sales. 50 years later, annual attendance has grown to over 140,000 with over 15 acres of greenery. In 2014, 20 years later, the Greening of Detroit planted an additional 115 trees. It is truly a beautiful sight to see in the spring and holds a special place in my heart. Many families were picnicking under the canopy this past weekend.
