Curbed Comparisons: What $900 Will Rent You in Detroit

New, 4 comments

We're looking through the neighborhoods to find the right apartment for you

Welcome to this week's installment of Curbed Comparisons, where we explore what you can rent for a certain dollar amount in various Detroit neighborhoods. We're looking at rentals within $100 of today's price: $900.

The first one we'll look at is in Palmer Park Square. There are a few buildings to choose from, and they're all pretty interesting on the outside, but the apartments themselves are fairly average, but functional. We hear parking is not that great in that area. You can get a three bedroom, two bath apartment for $945/month.

The Strathmore in Midtown will be opening soon. Still no visuals of the inside, but you can get a 646-square-foot one bedroom, one bath for $950/month. You can walk to many restaurants, businesses, museums, and Wayne State from here.

MIchelle & Chris Gerard

This cute little house in Bagley has three bedrooms, two baths, and is 1,500-square-feet. It actually looks fairly spacious on the main level, has decent bedrooms, and a clean basement. It'll run you $875/month.

This two-bedroom in West Village will run you $1,000/month, plus utilities. It's an upper level apartment, close to a lot of businesses and biking distance to Belle Isle.

We had to go to Craigslist to find this rare unicorn of an apartment in Corktown. No idea what it looks like on the outside, but there's one bedroom, one bathroom, and 850 square feet in a neighborhood that rarely has rentals listed. It's located a block off of Michigan Ave. and it'll run you $950/month.
