Curbed Comparisons: What $1,200 Will Rent You in Detroit Right Now

Which rental would you choose?

Welcome to this week's installment of Curbed Comparisons, where we explore what you can rent for a certain dollar amount in various Detroit neighborhoods. This week we're looking at rentals within $100 of today's price: $1,200.

At River Place Apartments, you can rent a one bedroom, one bath, 960-square-foot apartment for $1,264. It has high ceilings, exposed brick walls, and it’s pet friendly!

Out on Oakman Boulevard near the Aviation Subdivision, there’s a three bedroom, 1,367-square-foot ranch with a wood-paneled basement, perfect for a rec room. This one doesn’t allow pets and it’s a two-year lease for $1,100 per month.

For $1,200 in Bagley, you can get a three bedroom, 1,800-square-foot home. It has pink tiles in the bathroom and a pretty old kitchen. It’s located near Marygrove and UDM. No pets allowed.

In Corktown, you can get a two bedroom, one bath 1,100-square-foot rental for $1,150 per month. This unit may take small pets and is really close to the house next door (as seen from the master bedroom windows).

And for $1,280 a month, you can get a one bedroom, one bath apartment at the Lofts at Merchants Row downtown. You’ll only get 798 square feet of living space, but you’ll have laundry in the unit, you can walk anywhere, and it’s close to the QLINE.
