Silverdome Catches on Fire, No Reported Injuries

Talk about bad luck

Who knows if the Silverdome will even survive before it meets a wrecking ball? This Tuesday, the press box area of the stadium caught fire. CBS Detroit reported that there were no injuries and that the cause is still be investigated. Since 2012, this is the first reported fire at the 40-year-old stadium.

The Silverdome is set to be demolished this year. In 2015, the former home of the Detroit Lions landed on the market for $29 million, but it couldn't find a willing buyer despite roughly a dozen tours, according to Detroit Free Press. Once the stadium is demolished, the hope is to sell the 127 acres of land for commercial, industrial, retail and or residential use.
