Detroit Rent Comparisons: What $800 Can Rent You Right Now

From West Village to Woodbridge to the Joseph Berry Subdivision, here’s what we found this week

Welcome to this week's installment of Curbed Comparisons, where we explore what you can rent for a certain dollar amount in various Detroit neighborhoods. This week we're looking at rentals within $100 of today's price: $800.

First, we’re heading to West Village for this 600-square-foot one bedroom, one bath apartment. It’s an open concept space, with the kitchen open to the living room, concrete floors, and modern updates. It allows cats and small dogs. It’s located on Van Dyke, close to all the shops and restaurants and biking distance from the Riverfront. It’s coming in right at $800.

Next, we’ll go to the Riverfront for a 625-square-foot one bedroom, one bath apartment at the Manchester Apartments, listed on the National Register of Historic Places. These recently renovated apartments also have on-site laundry, free gas, water, and wi-fi. They also say they were featured on The Sopranos. One bedrooms start at $775 per month.

Also available are smaller units in the Castle Lofts in Woodbridge. Crazy historic on the outside, up for debate on the inside, a 700-square-foot one bedroom, one bath will run you $850 per month.

For $750 per month, you can be neighbors with the mayor in the Parkview Apartments in the Joseph Berry Subdivision. This apartment is 850 square feet with two bedrooms and it’s full of carpeting. But great location (There’s also a castle being renovated on this street)!

And for $900 per month, you can get a townhouse in East English Village. It has two bedrooms, one bath, hardwood floors, and a fenced yard.
