Two and a half years ago, we told you the crumbling Marie Apartments were going to be torn down and replaced by new construction. We’re finally getting a clearer idea of what that will look like.
To refresh your memory, the Marie Apartments stood just down the block from Honest John’s on Selden. They were super run-down and pretty dangerous. The Ferlito Group was closing on the property and said they would lead demolition. If you’ve been in the area recently, you know the building is finally down (Motor City Muckraker posted some pics in May), and a rendering of the new building is in its place.
According to Michael Ferlito, they’re aiming for a September groundbreaking, with occupancy in Summer 2017. The development, called The Selden, will have 12 units of for-sale condos ranging from $429,900 to $489,900 for the penthouse (for pre-sale pricing). All of the units are two bedroom, two bathrooms and run between 1,150 and 1,200 square feet.
Marketed as a high-end, luxury development, it will also offer its residents a dog run, a dog wash, a heated garage, bike storage on each floor, marble counter tops in the kitchens, custom cabinetry, and a sky deck.
The Selden will also have some office space and retail/restaurant space on the first floor.
The location is quite walkable and close to the M-1 rail. They’re calling the design "neo modern" and it’s designed by BmK Associates.
