Gone are the days where we request an Uber, hoping that someone answers the call and takes us to our destination, appointment, or airport. Uber users in metro Detroit can now schedule rides from 15 minutes to 30 days in advance.
Business Profile and Uber for Business users have priority, along with users who signed up to try out the new Scheduled Ride service in advance. After the initial roll out, Scheduled Rides will be available to all riders in metro Detroit.
This gif below shows how to schedule your ride.
Uber will send a reminder about your schedule both 24 hours and 30 minutes in advance.
This is especially helpful for those needing a ride to the airport. A cab fare can cost upwards of $60 from downtown, while an Uber ride is about half that.
The Detroit Free Press today discusses how regulations are holding cab companies back in Detroit. If the Michigan Legislature approves this fall, cab companies could set their own rates instead of being subject to old regulatory rates from 2001, thus being more competitive with companies like Uber and Lyft.
