Welcome to Friday Open Threads, wherein we'll pass the mic to readers to speak up about topics of interest, distress, horror, and more. Have something you want discussed? Let us know. This week’s topic: What would you like to see in Detroit’s four year plan?
As we write this, the nation is going through a changing of the guard. But we’re staying local and thinking about what we want Detroit to look like in the coming years.
Last month, we asked about your 2017 development wish list (movie theaters! Hudson’s site updates!). We’ve also recently seen what a 50-year outlook for greenways through Detroit could look like. We’ve even heard what development heavyweights in the city are hoping for. What about you? What would you like to see in the city in the next few years?
Do we want more residential development to move out into the neighborhoods? Maybe we want the QLINE to be so wildly successful that they extend the track further down Woodward, or maybe even down some of the other main corridors. Maybe we want the RTA to pass, bringing in a new era of public transit into the city. Or possibly we want more companies to bring jobs into the city. Or we want skyscrapers...so many skyscrapers.
Tell us what you think in the comments, and let’s make some of our dreams for the city a reality!
