Welcome to Friday Open Threads, wherein we'll pass the mic to readers to speak up about topics of interest, distress, horror, and more. Have something you want discussed? Let us know. This week’s topic: All aboard the QLINE!
One of the most anticipated developments in Detroit is the soon-to-be-open QLINE. This spring, we’ll see that bright red streetcar make its way up and down Woodward, back and forth forever (or during its hours of operation). Development has surged around the Woodward corridor in anticipation of this rail, and major developers are banking on it being a great success.
We’re just curious who will use it, and how.
For people who live in Midtown or New Center and work downtown, it would make sense to ride it daily. Or looking the other way, someone who lives downtown and works at Wayne State might use it.
Do you think sports fans will ride it on game days? If so, where will they park? (We’re looking into this because we’re curious - New Center doesn’t have a lot of parking structures near Woodward.)
Do you plan to use it regularly? Or maybe once in a while to visit places in Midtown or Downtown? Let us know in the comments.
