When planning a vacation anywhere in the world, where would you want to go? Perhaps Stockholm, Marrakesh, or Osaka, Japan? The New York Times just published its list of 52 Places to Go in 2017, and Detroit beat out of all of these exotic locales, landing at #9 on the list.
#1 this year went to the entire country of Canada and Detroit ended up right behind Tijuana, Mexico (they might have better weather).
The article points the big developments opening in Detroit this year, including the QLINE and the Little Caesars Arena. It also mentions our UNESCO City of Design designation and the DIA, and complements the post with a lovely picture of Rivera Court. Citing its filing for bankruptcy in 2013, the article notes that this could be the year the Detroit revitalization really takes shape (no pressure, y’all).
Of course, we always love to share our ideas of where to go when visiting Detroit, which we just updated this week. And we also have a few ideas of where to stay. With the Auto Show starting up in a couple of weeks and all these new developments finally coming together, get ready for a few more visitors, Detroit. And don’t forget to check out some of our stellar public art while you’re here.
And if you’re set on visiting the #1 destination, it’s right across the river.
