Another big sale has closed in Detroit. The Campbell Symington House, dating back to 1882 and designed by Donaldson and Meier, listed in June for $499,900. Our readers thought the price was low and competitive. The currently multifamily house just closed last week for a price well above asking: $776,000.
The house itself was in good, but not spectacular condition. The stone exterior gives it great curb appeal, until you get to the back and see that fire escape. The house has stately wood mantles and woodwork, carpeting, wallpaper, and a big front porch. The house is currently divided as a multi-family property, but Realtor Jeff Glover tells Curbed that the new owner plans to renovate and use the home as a primary residence. It’s 4,244 square feet and sits on a huge gated plot of land at 2nd and Alexandrine right in the middle of Midtown. Here are a few photos of this historic property; more can be found here.
