Welcome to Friday Open Threads, wherein we'll pass the mic to readers to speak up about topics of interest, distress, horror, and more. Have something you want discussed? Let us know. This week’s topic: is the Detroit real estate market keeping you up at night?

Halloween is almost here, so we’re thinking of haunted places, cemeteries, and all things spooky.

But of course, our focus is real estate. This week, we want to know your thoughts on the scariest trend in the Detroit real estate market.

Is it property owners sitting on homes or buildings in desirable neighborhoods, not keeping them up, waiting to sell them for a ridiculous price? Horrible landlords getting away with neglecting their properties and tenants? Maybe it’s the parade of outside speculators?

Perhaps it’s endless talk and no progress on transit that could really pull our region together? More announcements of ugly new boring architecture? Cheap flips of cool houses? New apartments that look like glorified dorm rooms?

As always, let us know what you think in the comments below.
