Funds will go toward a new playground

Fans of Rehab Addict can watch Nicole Curtis and her team rehabbing two metro Detroit homes this season on the DIY Network. One is a house in Ferndale, and another is in Birmingham. The Birmingham will be open for tours this weekend.

Curtis often opens up her rehabbed homes in order to raise funds for a special project. This time around, the money raised will go toward building a playground in honor of Tessa Prothero, a nine-year old who died earlier this year from neuroblastoma. Her father Bobby regularly works with Curtis on home projects and Tessa is featured prominently this season.

Curtis will also be signing copies of her book Better Than New at the open house. All proceeds from the signing will go toward the playground.

Rehab Addict is currently airing on the DIY Network Wednesdays at 9 p.m. The home on 14 Mile was acquired for $122,000 as a teardown and had to be completely renovated. The house was hit by a car earlier this spring; viewers can see what happened in terms of repairs later in the season. It will be an Airbnb home for Curtis.

We’ll have updates on parking for the open house later this week. More details can be found on the Facebook event page.
