Friday night brought out the best in Detroit, as thousands descended upon downtown and Campus Martius for the annual tree lighting ceremony. From Beacon Park to Cadillac Square, visitors captured the holiday spirit on Instagram, and we’re here to bring you the best.
Of course, we love a good bird’s eye view of the scene, and these photos show the color, lights, architecture, and crowds downtown.
And Bedrock goes higher.
And of course, the main event—the tree.
On the ground, holiday markets welcomed shoppers, while the Woodward esplanade led visitors through a path of wreathes and rainbow lights.
Beacon Park thrives on lights, and for the holidays it has a heated tent, lighted tunnel, installations, and ornaments galore.
Can you imagine Capitol Park looking this good just a few years ago?
Even the red orb on the Penobscot Building is lit!
The downtown holiday markets run through January 7. Happy holidays, y’all!
