Detroit apartment comparisons: What $950 can rent right now

Welcome to this week's installment of Curbed Comparisons, where we explore what you can rent for a certain dollar amount in various Detroit neighborhoods. This week we’re looking at rentals within $100 of today’s price: $950.

Our first apartment is right on budget at $950 per month. Rainier Court Apartments are located right in the heart of Midtown, close to Wayne State, the Detroit Medical Center, the museums, and downtown. Some dogs (up to 40 lbs.) are allowed, and parking is available for an extra charge. So fresh. So clean.

5086 Yorkshire Road

Over in East English Village, this two-bedroom duplex is available for $1,000 a month. It has a very retro kitchen, carpeting, and yes, a hot tub. Weird. The unit also has an attic for storage. Pets are negotiable here. It’s located in the Curbed Cup neighborhood of the year, close to shops and restaurants in the Pointes.

14931 Prevost Street

In Grandmont Rosedale, this three-bedroom home has 2,000 square feet of living space. It also has carpeting, a fireplace for decoration, and retro charm. It also has a basement and a two-car garage. It’s renting below budget at $850 per month.

8200 East Jefferson, Apartment 1608

This one-bedroom apartment along the riverfront may not be the most character-rich option, but it has a great location and views. Residents also get access to the penthouse roof, with sweeping views of Belle Isle, Canada, and downtown. It’s renting for $900 per month.

22162 Pickford Street

And finally, here’s a downright adorable house in Old Redford. It has three bedrooms, one and a half baths, and a backyard. It’s located in a quiet, wooded neighborhood and it’s listing for $900 per month.
