Pot + Box opens its doors in the Fisher Building

Photos by Michelle & Chris Gerard

One trend we’ve been happy to see this year is the opening of more brick and mortar retail locations for local businesses in Detroit. The Fisher Building in particular has filled many storefronts, including its most recent addition, Pot + Box. Photographers Michelle and Chris Gerard stopped by the new space in the iconic building.

The floral design business—run by Lisa Waud—is well-known for its Flower Truck, which brings flowers into the neighborhoods, and the internationally-acclaimed Flower House. In addition to retail offerings, they’ll run floral workshops out of their new space.

“Lisa is the artist who transformed the Fisher Arcade with her floral displays for last November’s reintroduction event of the Fisher Building,” said Dietrich Knoer, president and CEO of The Platform, a co-owner of the Fisher and the firm leading the charge in its redevelopment and restoration. “Lisa has been a regular vendor at the Fisher during the summer months with her Pot + Box flower truck. She is an artist and businesswoman who fits perfectly in the mix of retailers of our building.”

The store is open Tuesday-Friday, 12 to 6 p.m., and Saturdays 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Here’s a look inside.
