It’s not often we venture out into the world of Ann Arbor real estate, but we couldn’t help but notice that the Blind Pig, where many a famous and not-so-famous musicians have played, was up for sale. The price is not disclosed, but the sale includes the building, business, and liquor license. The location? Basically right in the middle of Ann Arbor.
According to the club’s website, the list of artists that have played there is extensive: Jimi Hendrix, Iggy Pop, Bo Diddley, Joan Baez, John Lennon, REM, Sonic Youth, Pearl Jam, and yes, Nirvana. Not only have big names played here, but so many local bands are part of its story. Its history extends back to 1971, and a full account of it can be found here.
Will it continue on as a music venue? Or will the new owners decide to do something different with the property? It’s remained true to itself through an increasingly changing Ann Arbor. What will it sell for? What will its future hold? Here’s a look inside the venue.
